Credits Scene Is Essential For 'Avengers

WARNING: Spoilers for Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel's mid-credits scene takes place after a relatively short time after the events of Infinity War. If nothing else, it proved that Marvel are masters of raising the stakes with post-credit scenes and added new layers of intrigue after the film itself had come to a close.

When the credits roll for Captain Marvel , buckle up for two post-credit scenes. Danvers told Nick Fury to bring the Cosmic Cube back to Earth for safekeeping while she flies off in search of a new home for the Skrull refugees. FYI, during Infinity War, we're told that Thanos invaded Xandar and took the stone for himself.

The beeper bit in Captain Marvel may be one of the sweetest post-credit connect-the-dots jokes in MCU history. Even if Captain Marvel didn't time travel to show up with Steve and Natasha right here and now, she might time travel (or help everyone time travel) to get to where they need to be in order to win.

That leads us into our final post-credits sequence, which features the film's villain, the Winter Soldier, a.k.a. Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). The end-credits scene shows Fury reaching into his pocket and activating a pager - a relic from the '90s, where 'Captain Marvel' is supposedly set - before he himself gets turned into dust.

There was no way Fury could know where in the universe Carol might be at any given time — particularly with her self-imposed mission to re-home the refugee Skrulls, and return to Hala to make good on her promise Black Widow to Yon-Rogg and the Supreme Intelligence — and thus, with the immediacy of what was going down, could not guarantee she would arrive in time to make a difference.

Since the Tesseract has played a major role in other MCU films, it's easy to assume that the scene takes place sometime in the past and is how Fury came to possess the cube. Nick Fury's pager from the 'Avengers: Infinity War' post-credits scene. As Marvel post-credits scenes go, this is one of the best as it gives us a little more of the Avengers 4 puzzle.

Aside from being a way to introduce Carol to MCU fans who aren't walking comic book encyclopedias, Captain Marvel will focus on her origins, how she comes to join Starforce, and her role in stopping an intergalactic war between two alien races, the Kree and the Skrull.
